The Pan-Rhodian "Apollon" Society will hold a general assembly on Sunday after the Divine Liturgy in Room 1. Eleni Karanikis Sciarra writes that the society is trying to expand and re-energize and that all of the community's members are welcome because the society is not limited to those of Rhodian descent.

The next lecture in the Cathedral's Adult Lecture Series will take place on Sunday, February 12 at 5 p.m. Professor James Skedros of Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology will return to give a lecture, "The Deacon: Then and Now."
The HOPE group's spring program for Cathedral children from 5 to 8 years of age is attached. The first activity, on Sunday, March 4, will be a visit to the AHEPA Home to socialize and play games with residents. Anna Rafti writes: "We will meet in the upstairs classroom across from the office after church and travel as a group. We will play a variety of board and card games with the senior residents. The residents are looking forward to seeing the children and playing together. Cookies and refreshments will be provided after the games. Feel free to bring a lunch or snack if needed for your child after church. Also, you are welcome to bring a game or a puzzle to share and oversee. We are excited about our outreach event. HOPE is having a fundraiser! We will be selling The Name Day Book and Goodnight Beautiful Church in the coming weeks. These are great books; perfect for gifts and Easter baskets. Please contact Bessie Viar (viar@cox.net) if you are able to help out. We will be selling the book for the next few months on Sundays after Divine Liturgy and on Saturdays during Greek School drop off and pick up.
The Cathedral's Parent Teacher Organization, which supports the Greek School and the Religious Education Program, will sponsor the 19th Annual Apokreatiko Glendi Luncheon on Sunday, February 19, after the Divine Liturgy in the Matthews Social Hall. Tickets are $20 per person and may be purchased in the Matthews Social Hall after church on Sundays.
HOUSE BLESSING: If you wish to have your home blessed this month, please call the church office (860-956-7586) to make an appointment.
HOSPITAL VISITS: If you have a relative in the hospital and would like a clergy visit and communion, a family member must call the church office. With the new privacy laws, we rely on families to make a request, as we have no other way of being informed/knowing.
FOODSHARE VOLUNTEER DAY: Saturday, Feb. 25 from 12 pm - 3:00 pm our GOYANS will be volunteering at the Hartford FoodShare warehouse. All Goyans are asked to inform advisors if you are able to attend! Meeting at the church at 11:30 am or at the FoodShare warehouse. We will be sorting and bagging produce donated by wholesalers, which later gets distributed to shelters, senior citizens and others in need. If anyone needs a ride please call so we can arrange transportation. Plan to go out to eat together afterwards. Last year, GOYA sorted 4,000 lbs. of oranges! JOY is collecting items for South Park Inn Shelter. Items desperately needed are: toothpaste, toothbrushes, spray deodorant (this is shared), twin sheets-new or gently used, twin blankets. JOY will be gathering these items to bring to their meeting. If anyone in our community would like to help with this effort, please drop off items to the church office. Advisor, Eleni Bouzakis will deliver to the shelter on February 27th.
ORATORICAL FESTIVAL: This year's Parish Oratorical Festival will be held on Friday, March 30, 2012 after the evening service. Any students interested in participating can register in the Sunday school office. Topics are available in the Sunday school office or on goarch.org. Please call Christina Kaliff with any questions.
Come be active in the life of our church and community! Join us for a year filled with activities for all. We encourage the parents of young children to consider enrolling their youngsters in Religious Education classes, Greek Language School, our church dance troupes, the basketball teams, and we have tentative plans for a Jr. Choir. For young mothers and their little ones LITTLE ANGELS (ages birth to preschool) , HOPE (kindergarten thru 2nd/3rd), JOY (3rd thru 6th grade), GOYA (Jr. High and High School) and for young singles and marrieds "20's, 30's, 40's, 50's" look for more information on these ministries and activities on our church website and in future bulletins (or call the church office 860-956-7586). For adults bible study, lecture series, Ladies Philoptochos Society, Cathedral Choir, "20's, 30's 40's 50's" (a Social organization for singles and couples), Daughters of Penelope and the Order of Ahepa.
