Home > Dance Troupe
Our dance troupe is lead by Cathy Triarhos a professional dance teacher. She has been teaching dance for many years and has her own studio in West Hartford.
The ages begin at age 7 and up. Students practice beginning in October through June in order to prepare for the festival. Students also perform at the Greek Independence Day Celebration at our church in March. They meet once a month, on a Sunday, after church. A schedule will be posted in September.
The dances which they learn range from various areas all over Greece, and of course including the basics such as the kalamatiano. In order to participate you need to be extremely dedicated and are only allowed missing 2 dance rehearsals.
Students also wear costumes which were purchased by the families. If you need information in regards to where to purchase these costumes you may contact members of the PTO. There are also a few costumes donated in which your son/daughter may wear if unable to purchase one.
We strongly encourage children of the community to participate. We will be moving forward with our dance troupe onto participating in competitions in the near future. We have a lot of fun and it has been very exciting to see our son's and daughter's master dances that tie in with our culture and our heritage.
